High speed optical power meter

High speed optical power meters have fast sampling time and data caching capabilities, as well as wide dynamic range, high measurement accuracy, support for external triggering and analog output. For different application scenarios, 2mm or 5mm photosensitive surface detectors can be selected to provide flexible solutions for various optical loop tests.

The high-speed optical power meter launched by Xuece Company is a testing equipment that combines efficiency and high precision to meet more stringent testing requirements. In the 8001700nm band, the measurement dynamic range is -65+7dBm, -50+15 dBm, and -40+25 dBm. This optical power meter not only has a large capacity data storage function, but also supports external triggering and analog output characteristics. The sampling period reaches the US level. Compared with traditional power meters, it can collect and process a large amount of data more quickly, greatly improving testing efficiency.

 

Application scenarios

1. Automated testing of LIV characteristics of TOSA components

In actual industrial production, pursuing efficient production speed will inevitably generate a large amount of test data in a short period of time, and corresponding data storage and transmission will be carried out. Therefore, high-speed optical power meters have speed advantages that ordinary optical power meters cannot match.

The entire system consists of TOSA, high-speed optical power meter, current source, computer, and corresponding control software. The current source provides driving current to the TOSA component in steps, and the high-speed optical power meter collects the emitted optical power data of the TOSA component. During the testing process, the current source provides an external trigger signal to the high-speed optical power meter to synchronize the driving current and power acquisition in real time. The high-speed optical power meter will collect the input signal according to the set sampling rate and link it with the current source to achieve synchronous detection. High speed power meters can read the power values of all points through control software and plot them into LIV (power current voltage) curves.

 

2. Automated testing of fiber Bragg grating devices

The automatic fiber Bragg grating testing system consists of a high-speed optical power meter, a wavelength adjustable light source, a fiber Bragg grating to be tested, a computer, and corresponding control software. The wavelength adjustable light source can provide the wavelength within the adjustable range, and the light passes through the fiber Bragg grating to be tested before entering the optical power meter. At the same time, during the testing process, the wavelength adjustable light source provides an external trigger signal to the high-speed optical power meter, and the two are synchronized. The high-speed optical power meter will collect the optical power of the input signal according to the set sampling rate, thereby achieving the spectral characteristics of the fiber Bragg grating under each wavelength condition.
